Yes—you can download Twitter (X) voice tweets, audio-backed waveform clips, and shared X Spaces highlight tweets directly in your browser using our Twitter to MP3 Converter or Twitter Video Downloader.
However, because X offers two very different audio features—Voice Tweets (recorded audio posts attached to a regular tweet) and X Spaces (live multi-speaker audio rooms at x.com/i/spaces/...)—it helps to know how each one is stored on Twitter's servers so you use the right workflow.
Voice Tweets vs. X Spaces: What's the Difference Under the Hood?
When you see an audio post in your X timeline with a pulsing avatar and a colored waveform, it is usually a Voice Tweet (up to 140 seconds per clip, or longer when chained) or an Audio Clip shared from a recorded Space.
Here is how Twitter's backend handles each audio format:
| Audio Feature on X | URL Structure | How X Stores It on CDN | Works Directly in SaveTwitter? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Voice Tweet (iOS Waveform Post) | x.com/user/status/184... | Stored as an MP4/AAC container on video.twimg.com | Yes (100% supported as MP3 or MP4) |
| Shared X Space Highlight Clip | x.com/user/status/184... | Stored as an audiogram video tweet on video.twimg.com | Yes (100% supported as MP3 or MP4) |
| Long Video Interview / Podcast | x.com/user/status/184... | Progressive H.264 + AAC stream on video.twimg.com | Yes (strip audio via Twitter to MP3) |
| Live / Unclipped X Space Room | x.com/i/spaces/1vOxw... | Ephemeral Periscope/HLS .m3u8 chunk stream | Only if clipped into a public status tweet |
How to Download a Twitter Voice Tweet (MP3 or MP4)
Even though a Voice Tweet looks like an audio-only player inside the X app, Twitter actually wraps your recorded voice alongside your profile picture inside an .mp4 container on video.twimg.com. That means you have two ways to save it:
Option A: Save Just the MP3 Audio File
If you want a lightweight audio file you can listen to with your phone screen locked:
- Tap the Share icon underneath the Voice Tweet on X and select Copy link.
- Open our Twitter to MP3 Converter, tap Paste, and click Download.
- Click Download MP3 audio (or the Audio row in the table) to save the standalone sound file.
Option B: Save the Waveform Video (MP4 with Avatar)
If you want to repost the voice note on Instagram Stories, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts where a visual frame is required:
- Paste the same Voice Tweet URL into our Twitter to MP4 Downloader and click Download.
- Click Download on the
MP4row. You will get a video file featuring the creator's static avatar/card alongside the full synchronized voice recording.
How to Save Audio from X Spaces (Recorded Replays & Highlights)
When a host finishes a live X Space and leaves the Record Space toggle turned on, listeners can replay the discussion or share 30-second to 2-minute highlight clips directly to their timeline.
1. Downloading Shared X Space Highlight Tweets
Whenever a host or listener clips a segment from a Space and posts it to their timeline as a tweet (https://x.com/username/status/...), you can copy that tweet's link and paste it right into our Twitter to MP3 Downloader to save the audio immediately.
2. Downloading Your Own Hosted X Space Archive
If you hosted a Space yourself and want the complete multi-hour recording for your podcast feed:
- X allows hosts to download the raw
.m4a/.mp3archive directly from their X Data Archive for 30 days after the Space ends, or you can clip the key segments into public status tweets. - For creators who upload full 1-hour or 2-hour recorded conversations as long-form X Premium video posts (the format most podcasters on X now prefer over Spaces), simply copy the post link and paste it into SaveTwitter.to to extract either the full 1080p MP4 or the standalone audio track.
Troubleshooting Audio Playback on Mobile Devices
- No sound when previewing on iPhone? Check our step-by-step fix for why a downloaded Twitter video has no sound.
- Finding saved MP3s on iOS: Remember that iPhones store
.mp3and.m4aaudio downloads inside the built-in Files app (On My iPhone → Downloads), not inside the Camera Roll. Open the Files app and tap the audio file to play it in the background with your screen off.
